TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) appointed Lin Hsin-i (林信義) to represent Taiwan at the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in South Korea. The Office of the President (總統府) spokesperson Karen Kuo (郭雅慧) confirmed Wednesday (Oct. 8) that Lin, chairman of Taiwania Capital Management Corporation (台杉投資管理顧問公司) and presidential advisor, will attend the gathering.

Lin will attend the meeting scheduled for Oct. 31 to Nov. 1 in Gyeongju, South Korea, for the fifth time. He plans to share Taiwan's policy vision and achievements at the gathering. Lin previously represented Taiwan at APEC in 2005 and 2024, gaining deep insights into the organization's operations.

Kuo emphasized Lin's extensive experience in industry and national economic policy-making, which provides profound understanding of Taiwan's industrial development and global trade dynamics. She noted that this year's APEC themes of artificial intelligence and population challenges align with President Lai's vision of transforming Taiwan into an "AI Island" and "Healthy Taiwan." The 2025 APEC theme is "Building a Sustainable Tomorrow: Connect, Innovate, Prosper." ◼
