TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Mandarin Airlines (華信航空) launched a 50% discount program Wednesday (Oct. 1) for disaster relief volunteers traveling to Hualien. The airline offers reduced fares on Taichung-Hualien and Kaohsiung-Hualien routes from Thursday (Oct. 2) through Oct. 31. The initiative supports ongoing relief efforts following recent natural disasters in the region.
The Matai'an landslide dam overflow in Guangfu Township (光復鄉) on Sept. 23 triggered the airline's response. Mandarin Airlines aims to facilitate transportation for volunteers and local residents supporting relief operations in the affected township. The measure directly addresses logistical challenges facing disaster response teams in the remote area.
Discounted tickets are available through Mandarin Airlines' website, mobile app, and convenience store channels for travel through Oct. 31. The airline hopes to reduce transportation barriers and accelerate deployment of relief personnel and emergency supplies. Mandarin Airlines coordinates its disaster response efforts with government agencies and private sector partners. ◼
