TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Lin Chih-sheng (林智勝), a legendary player for the Weichuan Dragons (味全龍), concluded his retirement series with a remarkable performance on Sunday (Sept. 7) by hitting his 305th career home run in the sixth inning. This achievement marked his record of homering in 22 consecutive seasons. The Dragons secured an 11-1 victory in the game, which drew 40,000 fans to witness this emotional farewell.
Before the game, Lin embraced Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions (統一7-ELEVEn獅) head coach Hung Yi-chung (洪一中), dispelling past rumors of discord between them. During the post-game retirement ceremony, Lin became emotional, expressing gratitude for his years of hard work. His family, including his brother, who threw the ceremonial first pitch, attended the game to celebrate his illustrious career.
Lin's career in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL, 中華職業棒球大聯盟) saw him hit 304 home runs, earning him the title of the league's home run king. Despite a year-long estrangement from his mother following the 2009 game-fixing scandal, Lin has since reconciled with his family. Near the end of the section, Lin returned to the shortstop position in the ninth inning, providing a perfect farewell to his fans. The three-game retirement series attracted a total of 106,316 spectators
