TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Tesla (特斯拉) announced Wednesday (Aug. 27) a significant price adjustment for its vehicles in Taiwan, offering discounts up to NT$100,000 (around US$3,277) for customers taking delivery of in-stock Model 3 or Model Y cars through Monday (Sept. 30). The electric vehicle manufacturer aims to address rising raw material and international transportation costs that have impacted its pricing strategies across global markets.
The Central News Agency (中央社), Taiwan's official news agency, reported Tesla emphasized that U.S. tariff reductions are not the sole factor influencing its Taiwan pricing decisions. Despite confirmed tariff reductions, Tesla decided against lowering prices for Model S and Model X vehicles in the region. The company responds to market expectations with Model 3 discounts while maintaining Model Y imports from its Berlin factory without production relocation plans.
Tesla described this initiative as the largest price discount ever offered for its refreshed models, with the Model 3 Performance receiving the most significant reduction of up to NT$100,000 (around US$3,277).
