TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese technology leaders Delta Electronics (台達電) and Lite-On Technology (光寶科技) vowed to maintain their global expansion strategies despite mounting U.S. tariff pressures threatening market stability. The companies' senior executives outlined their resilience plans during quarterly earnings presentations this week. Both firms emphasized their commitment to staying geographically close to international customers through strategic manufacturing diversification.
Lanford Liu (劉亮甫), vice president of corporate investment at Delta Electronics, observed during yesterday's Q2 earnings call (July 31) that America's tariff policy represents a fundamental shift in global economic frameworks. Liu anticipates these trade barriers will endure as new international commerce rules crystallize over time. Chairman Ping Cheng (鄭平) voiced apprehension about Washington's rapidly evolving tariff landscape, stressing Delta's need for operational agility given the complexity of restructuring business models and manufacturing capacity swiftly. Delta has cultivated a distributed manufacturing network across Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and America since 2015.
Anson Chiu (邱森彬), general manager of Lite-On Technology, confronted tariff and currency volatility challenges during Wednesday's Q2 earnings presentation (July 30). Chiu declared his company's unwavering commitment to technological advancement and cost reduction initiatives designed to strengthen operational performance. Lite-On plans to amplify production of high-demand products including battery backup units across Taiwan and American facilities to enhance competitive positioning.
Lite-On Technology intends to broaden manufacturing operations across Taiwan and Vietnam while escalating investments in American production infrastructure. Chiu acknowledged elevated U.S. manufacturing expenses but emphasized advantages of proximity to customers who comprehend and accept these premium costs. The executive confirmed that American expansion efforts have preserved the company's overall profit margins without adverse financial impact.
