TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA, 美國半導體產業協會) has recognized Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. (TSMC, 台積電) Chairman and CEO C.C. Wei (魏哲家) and former Chairman Mark Liu (劉德音) as joint recipients of the 2025 Robert N. Noyce Award. They will receive this honor at a gala in San Jose, California, on Nov. 20.
SIA noted that Wei and Liu have reshaped the modern semiconductor ecosystem both domestically and internationally, fundamentally transforming chip manufacturing technology. With over 80 years of combined industry experience, they have led TSMC to become the world's largest chip foundry and a cornerstone of the semiconductor supply chain.
The association further explained that under Wei and Liu's leadership, TSMC has developed numerous groundbreaking technologies that have redefined computing performance, energy efficiency, and the global supply chain. TSMC's innovations have supported the rise of personal computing, smartphones, and artificial intelligence, while their strategic establishment of manufacturing plants in the U.S. and other countries has significantly expanded global operations.
SIA annually awards the Robert N. Noyce Award to leaders who have made outstanding contributions to the semiconductor industry in technology and public policy. The association expressed its honor in awarding the 2025 prize to Wei and Liu. Wei remarked that receiving the award is an honor and that he shares this distinction with Liu, following in the footsteps of visionary leaders like TSMC founder Morris Chang (張忠謀). Liu added that the award represents a great honor and responsibility, thanking mentors, colleagues, and partners for their support.
