TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA, 文化內容策進院) and Taipei Book Fair Foundation (TiBE, 台北書展基金會) donated over 300 quality Taiwanese books to the Seoul Metropolitan Library on Friday (June 20) at the Taiwan Pavilion of the Seoul International Book Fair. This initiative aims to promote Taiwanese literature and strengthen cultural ties between Taiwan and South Korea.
Chang Wen-ying (張文櫻), TAICCA deputy director, presented the books, while Oh Ji-eun, director of the Seoul Metropolitan Library, accepted them. Representatives from the Taipei Mission in Korea (駐韓國代表處), including Liang Kuang-chung (梁光中) and Rex How (郝明義), TiBE chairman, witnessed the event. Chang emphasized that the beauty of Taiwanese literature would spread through this gesture.
The collaboration between the National Central Library (國家圖書館) and the Seoul Metropolitan Library, which established the Taiwan Corner in 2023, further promotes Taiwanese literature. Oh Ji-eun expressed gratitude, noting that the donation enriches library resources and enhances internationalization. She hopes to see more cooperation, especially next year's 60th anniversary of Seoul and Taipei's sister city relationship.
Taiwan, the theme country of the book fair, gathered works from over 85 publishers covering diverse fields like literature, Indigenous culture, nature, and travel. Liang Kuang-chung highlighted that the donated books would help Koreans who love Taiwan better understand its literary and cultural aspects.
The Seoul International Book Fair, held from Wednesday to Sunday at the COEX Exhibition Center, features participation from 17 countries and over 530 publishers. Taiwan organized more than 60 events to foster exchange and engagement.
