TAIPEI (TVBS News) — NVIDIA (輝達) CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) is expected to arrive in Taiwan on Saturday (May 17) where he will host a dinner for key supply chain partners across the island. In a parallel development, Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan (陳立武), who assumed leadership in March, will make his inaugural visit to Taiwan as chief executive in mid-May, culminating in a dinner gathering scheduled for Monday (May 19).
Industry sources reveal that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC, 台積電) Chairman Mark Liu (魏哲家), Quanta Computer (廣達) Chairman Barry Lam (林百里), ASUS (華碩) Chairman Jonney Shih (施崇棠), and Foxconn (鴻海) Chairman Young Liu (劉揚偉) are among the expected attendees at both high-profile dinners. Tan's visit underscores his strategic vision to transform Intel through the development of an "AI system foundry" while cultivating deeper relationships with Taiwan's semiconductor ecosystem.
Huang has tantalizingly hinted at a significant announcement planned for COMPUTEX 2025, fueling intense speculation regarding NVIDIA's overseas operations headquarters, with Linkou emerging as the frontrunner location. Industry analysts note that NVIDIA's GB200 production in Taiwan is projected to reach 3,000 units during the second quarter, with substantial expansion expected before year-end. Concurrently, TSMC forecasts the global semiconductor market will reach US$1 trillion (NT$30.3 trillion) by 2030, propelled by rapid innovations in high-performance computing and artificial intelligence applications.
COMPUTEX 2025, the premier technology exhibition in Asia, will run from May 20-23 in Taipei City, showcasing keynote presentations from global technology leaders including NVIDIA, Intel, Qualcomm, Foxconn, and MediaTek (聯發科). The event is expected to draw thousands of international visitors and serve as a platform for major product launches and strategic industry announcements. ★
