TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei City renamed a street the "Lin Yang Way" (麟洋路) on Monday (Feb. 17), honoring Olympic badminton champions Lee Yang (李洋) and Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟).

The ceremony took place at Alley 361 of Fuxing N. Rd. (復興北路361巷), in front of the Taipei Municipal Zhongshan Junior High School (中山國中), where both athletes studied. Students enthusiastically welcomed the champions as they returned to their alma mater and posed with the new street sign.

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) praised Lee and Wang for their consecutive Olympic golds, a record-setting achievement. He expressed hopes that their fighting spirit would become part of "Taipei's DNA". Chiang assured residents that naming the street "Lin Yang Way" would not disrupt daily life, as no changes to documents or address plates are necessary.

In addition to the street naming, Chiang highlighted plans for a new international badminton facility at the Beitou Shilin Technology Park (北投士林科技園區). The venue will feature three above-ground and two underground levels, accommodate 6,500 spectators, and meet international standards.

Chiang also announced an increase of NT$570 million in the sports budget this year to enhance athlete rewards and provide additional funding for overseas training and competition expenses.
