TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The cold wave in Taiwan will begin to ease Monday evening as high pressure moves offshore, leading to a slight warm-up on Tuesday. However, a new front will arrive Wednesday, likely bringing rain across Taiwan, the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署) reported on Saturday (Feb. 8).
CWA weather forecaster Kuan Shin-ping (官欣平) predicted cold temperatures from Feb. 8 to Feb. 10, with daytime highs and nighttime lows remaining chilly across all regions. Western and central Taiwan might see temperatures between 7 and 11 degrees Celsius, with highs not exceeding 16 degrees.
While temperatures may rise slightly on Feb. 10, central and southern regions will still feel the chill, he noted, with lows potentially dropping again by Feb. 11 due to radiative cooling.
Kuan explained that high pressure will slowly move out to sea Monday night, indicating a reduction in cold air and a slight warm-up during the day on Tuesday. However, a new weather system will bring rain to Taiwan as early as Tuesday night. Residents should prepare for fluctuating temperatures and potential precipitation in the coming days.
