TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A shift in workplace dynamics has emerged as Generation Z (Gen Z) workers challenge traditional corporate culture. A rising trend of “rectifying the workplace” is observed as this younger workforce begins emphasizing rejecting unreasonable demands and prioritizing quality of life, prompting companies to rethink management strategies.

This generational shift has become particularly evident as young employees seek environments that align with their values.

Kelly Chien (簡嘉誼), a 24-year-old social networking service company employee, noted that her peers are more willing to try new things than past generations. She explained that they often explore other opportunities if a job does not suit them. Chien chose her current company because it offers remote work and learning resources, which are key attractions for her.

Peng Mu-chieh (彭睦潔), the human resources director at an online social media and networking platform, acknowledged the challenge of managing new-generation employees. She believes that generational conflicts stem from differing perspectives. Peng emphasized that independent thinking and mutual respect can lead to better ideas and uncover more possibilities.

Local job bank spokesperson Yang Tsung-bin (楊宗斌) also highlighted that Gen Z values work-life balance due to the limited economic benefits of salary increases and promotions. With significant financial goals like buying a house or car, young people no longer obsess over work.

This shift presents a new challenge for corporate management, as Gen Z employees are more committed to their needs than blindly serving their bosses.

As Gen Z reshapes workplace expectations, companies must adapt to these evolving priorities to attract and retain young talent.
