TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of National Defense (MND, 國防部) reported on Wednesday (Jan. 22) that it detected 14 Chinese aircraft flights between 6 a.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday. Of these, 12 aircraft crossed the median line into northern, southwestern, and eastern airspace.

Also, five Chinese vessels were observed operating nearby. In response, the Taiwanese military deployed mission aircraft, ships, and land-based missile systems to monitor the situation and ensure the security of the Taiwan Strait.

The MND also announced that China plans to launch a carrier rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center (西昌衛星發射中心) on Thursday. The Long March 3B rocket, is similar to the one launched earlier this month by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology.

The rocket's trajectory is expected to pass over Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ), raising concerns about airspace security and potential regional stability implications. The MND emphasized its commitment to maintaining peace and security, urging vigilance as these events unfold.
