TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The TVBS Foundation (信望愛永續基金會) brought nearly 1,000 youths to experience the excitement of the New Taipei Kings (新北國王) basketball games on Dec. 28-29. This initiative marked the fourth consecutive year of collaboration with local charities and churches, aiming to give young attendees an unforgettable New Year's gift.
During the weekend, around 500 youths attended each game, thanks to the foundation's partnership with the New Taipei City Social Welfare Department (新北市社會局), 15 children's community service centers, and 14 churches. For many of these young attendees, witnessing professional basketball was a dream come true. Post-game, players interacted with the kids, signing autographs and creating lasting memories.
New Taipei Kings player Jason Washburn expressed his admiration by telling the youth, "Give it everything you have. It's not just a dream. It can become a purpose." Meanwhile, New Taipei Kings General Manager James Mao (毛加恩) highlighted the event's goal, emphasizing the importance of motivating and inspiring the children through the game's atmosphere. Mao also pointed out that the team's 10-session training camp offers more than just basketball lessons.
The program includes language and English instruction, providing a holistic experience that may even feature coaching workshops.
