TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The chairman of Adata (威剛) announced on Tuesday (Dec. 17) plans to produce the film "Champion's Road: Team Taiwan." The film will capture the inspiring journey of Taiwan's baseball team, which clinched the title at the WBSC Premier12 tournament on Nov. 24.
In an interview, Simon Chen (陳立白) said he aims to immortalize this historic victory and ensure its memory endures for decades. He hopes to start filming in the first half of 2025, emphasizing that the budget will prioritize quality without an upper limit.
Chen also revealed his personal investment in the project alongside contributions from Adata and Sports Lottery (運彩). "This time, the team had no big stars," he noted, highlighting the coaching staff's strategic prowess under global pressure and the players' pivotal roles as national heroes.
A lifelong baseball enthusiast, Chen expressed his desire to involve the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TCCA, 文策院) and the National Development Fund (國發基金) to support the film. He envisions the project, whether a movie or documentary, as a source of inspiration, and he extended his best wishes for Taiwan's future success in securing more gold medals.
Chen plans to discuss and integrate shareholder feedback, aiming for collaboration facilitated by the TCCA. His goal is to create a compelling narrative that resonates with the Taiwanese spirit through the cinematic portrayal of "Team Taiwan."
