TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) reported on Friday (Dec. 13) that the northeast monsoon continues to impact Taiwan, bringing a high chance of rainfall to areas north of Taoyuan and Yilan. Meanwhile, heavy rain is expected in the mountainous regions of Taipei City and the northern coast of Keelung.
Daytime temperatures will range from 18 to 20 degrees Celsius in the northern and northeastern parts, dropping to 14 or 15 degrees at night. Matsu will see temperatures between 13 and 15 degrees throughout the day, while Kinmen will experience a range from 15 to 21 degrees.
Meteorologist Lin Te-en (林得恩) warned that a continental cold air mass will move southward tomorrow, marking the coldest spell this winter. Lin also noted that on Sunday, the cold air mass will continue to affect northern, northeastern, and eastern regions, with cooler conditions expected in other areas during the morning and evening.
According to the U.S. National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), an even colder wave is anticipated around Christmas (Dec. 25), approaching cold surge levels. Residents should prepare for the upcoming temperature drops and stay informed through official weather updates.
