TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese badminton men's doubles stars Lee Yang (李洋) and Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟) secured their first victory in the HSBC BWF World Tour Finals 2024 preliminary round on Wednesday (Dec. 11). The duo defeated fellow Taiwanese players Lee Jhe-huei (李哲輝) and Yang Po-hsuan (楊博軒) in a thrilling 2-1 comeback.

The match began with friendly exchanges between the players, with no sign of tension on the court. However, the atmosphere changed as the game progressed. Lee Yang and Wang Chi-lin managed to turn the tables, with Wang's consistent performance in the second set being crucial to their victory. In an interview with the Central News Agency (CNA, 中央社), Lee Yang expressed his joy at returning to the international stage for the last time. He emphasized that he wanted to end his international career happily, free from pressure.

Lee Yang also thanked his partners, including Wang Chi-lin, Lee Jhe-huei, and Yang Po-hsuan, for helping him adapt to the court and regain his competitive spirit. He acknowledged that victories and defeats are part of the game and appreciated Wang Chi-lin's support throughout, even after a three-month hiatus from competition.
