KEELUNG (TVBS News) — Keelung (基隆) will hold a recall vote for Mayor George Hsieh (謝國樑) on Sunday (Oct. 13). The Keelung City Election Commission announced on Friday that the recall will pass if the number of valid affirmative votes exceeds the opposing votes and reaches approximately 77,700 votes.

Voting will unfold from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. across 283 polling stations in Keelung's seven districts, with a total of 310,797 eligible voters.

The commission emphasized that the recall proposal will fail if the valid opposing votes outnumber the affirmative ones or if the affirmative votes do not meet the required threshold of at least one-fourth of the original electoral district's total electorate.

The commission remarked that the recall ballots are white. Voters must mark their choice using tools provided by the commission before folding the ballot and placing it in the box without lingering. During voting hours, voters must also bring their national ID, personal seal, and voting notice to the designated polling station.

Local district offices have distributed recall announcements and voting notices to households within the electoral district. Residents who have not received their notices can inquire at their local district office.
