TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Presidential Office (總統府) on Monday (Sept. 9) announced President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) will host a reception for Paralympic athletes on Wednesday, followed by the "Our Heroes! Team Taiwan" (台灣英雄 榮耀同行) party.
The Paralympic Games concluded Sunday, with Taiwan's athletes winning three silver and two bronze medals. Secretary-General Lee Hou-ching (李厚慶) of the General Association of Chinese Culture (GACC, 中華文化總會) detailed that athletes will arrive in limousines and enter the Presidential Office through a saber arch formed by the Ministry of National Defense's (MND, 國防部) honor guard.
Deputy Minister of Education Chang Liao Wan-chien (張廖萬堅) noted that resources for this year's Paralympics were the best. Since December 2023, the Sports Administration (體育署) has assisted 27 athletes across eight sports with customized training programs.
Chang Liao also mentioned that the parade for returning Paralympic athletes will unfold alongside the National Day celebrations.
President Lai Ching-te, Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴), the Ministry of Education (MOE, 教育部), the GACC, and the Sports Administration will live stream the event on their YouTube channels, allowing the entire nation to join in celebrating Taiwan's heroes.
