Premier Chen uges green shift in Taiwan

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Chen Chien-jen highlighted the crucial role of building materials in Taiwan's transition to a net-zero future on Thursday (Dec. 7) and called for cross-sector cooperation to promote the industry's green transformation.

Chen made these comments at the opening ceremony of the TaiPei Building Show, emphasizing its role in boosting Taiwan's international visibility in the building materials sector. The show, celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, has served as a platform for local and international buyers since its inception in 1987.

The Premier's focus on the building sector aligns with the National Development Council's (NDC) announcement of Taiwan's 2050 net-zero emissions pathway in 2022. This roadmap includes strategies in energy, industry lifestyle, and society through four transitions and twelve key strategies.

Chen also stressed the importance of developing competitive, sustainable, and resilient business processes that reduce emissions and promote circular usage. He believes Taiwan's economic growth depends on the success of these transformations.

With Taiwan committed to meeting its climate goals, the role of building materials in achieving these objectives is significant. The Premier anticipates a collective industry effort to drive a green transition that will support Taiwan's economic expansion.
