TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The United States announced on Friday (Nov. 25) a ban on sales and imports of technology equipment from Chinese tech giants Huawei and ZTE among others.

The Biden administration cited "unacceptable risk" to national security amid recent fears that Beijing could use their tech companies to spy on U.S. citizens.

According to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, the vote will unanimously block the importation or sale of certain technology products to and from China.

The ban comes a few months after China's frequent release of warship training footage, which has led Japanese media to render them "a threat" to the region.

Amid rising fears of national security risks and spying from Chinese tech companies, countries around the world are enforcing measures to protect themselves.
